The name of the Association is the Association of Physical Scientists in Medicine (APSM). It is an Association for Medical Physicists and Clinical Engineers working in Health Care and in Medical Applications in Ireland. The aims of the Association are as follows:

• The promotion of the application of physical scientists in medicine
• Establishing and maintaining professional standards
• Promoting professional development and the interests of the membership.
